2.4.3. Conclusion of Chapter 2.4.
The postmodern Gallic abstractions come to presence in cyberspace
and VR. Just as postmodernity problematizes reality, these technologies
threaten the principle of reality of every individual. The 'accident
of the real' (Virilio) or the 'war of the worlds' is in the making.
Cyberspace and VR are threatening reality in changing our perception
of space, but even by far more our perception of time. But cyberspace
is only the electronic version of Cyberia, a fourth dimension
which becomes added to the world like once a third was added.
Instead of a real change of reality it seems more to change the
way we think about nature. Virtual reality becomes reality just
like reality becomes virtual reality and this has massive impact
on our lives, from physical laws to biology to identity, community
and politics. Every part of our lives is in change, becomes fluid.
